About the Campaign for Rainbow Equality: This non-partisan campaign is all about mobilizing Canadians to speak up for equality, freedom and human rights for 2SLGBTQ+ people in the next federal election.

Instructions:

  1. Find a quiet place, indoors or outdoors, where you can film a short video without being interrupted. Make sure the space is bright / well lit.
  2. Review the scripts below, choose one for your video, or create your own. You're welcome to edit ours to suit you.
  3. Think about your tone: we like fiery (!!!) but we also want to be hopeful, to bring a message that touches hearts AND minds.
  4. Record your video. Do a couple takes if helpful, and don't worry if you stumble over a word. Do a test run first to make sure the audio and video quality are good. Pro tip: ask a friend to help.

Post the video on your social media channels, with a caption tagging us (@queermomentum) and encouraging people to visit www.rainbowequality.ca.

In this federal election, I'm voting for rainbow equality because I believe in a Canada where freedom includes everyone, where we respect our neighbours, protect human rights and lift EVERYONE up.

If you agree, visit www.rainbowequality.ca and join our movement.

My name is (NAME) and I am (role) with (organization) here in (town/city). As you know, there's a federal election around the corner, and it's happening even as hate and violence targeting queer people rises. That's why I'm asking you to vote for rainbow equality.

I'm voting for rainbow equality because I believe everyone deserves the freedom to be themselves and to be safe in their community. Here at (org), we see the impact of homophobia, transphobia and hate every day. People whose lives are made harder by discrimination, who've survived violence and poverty. I'm asking you to think of them when you vote. Because they deserve freedom, equality and human rights too, just like everyone else.

I'm voting for rainbow equality because, as an older (Gay man), I am proud of the progress we have made, and worried about rising hate. We've been here before, had social conservatives target some of us, to send a message about all of us. This isn't about trans people. They're just a convenient target. This is about all queer people. This is about making hate normal again. I don't want to relive history. I want us to keep building a more free and equal Canada. For everyone.

Will you join me? Visit RainbowEquality.ca and join our movement.

I'm voting for rainbow equality because every worker deserves equality, human rights and safety in their community. I am proud of our movement's legacy, speaking up for workers and their families, including those from the queer community. These people are our neighbours, family members and colleagues. Right now, they need our solidarity.

Will you join me? Visit rainbowequality.ca and join the movement. United, we can win a better future for workers, for marginalized people, for everyone.

I'm voting for rainbow equality because my kids deserve a happy and healthy future. Hatred is making Canada less safe and less free for my (insert identity) child. I don't need you to understand everything about queer and trans people to understand that my kids - like all kids - deserve to grow up in a safe and accepting Canada, and that families like mine shouldn't live in fear because we're different.

Will you speak up with me? Join our movement at www.rainbowequality.ca

I'm voting for rainbow equality. I'm a straight man and I don't understand all this trans stuff. But here's what I do understand: freedom includes everyone. Human Rights protect everyone. We are a better, stronger, country when we welcome diversity. A more inclusive Canada is a freer Canada. It's as simple as that. If you agree, visit www.rainbowequality.ca and join our movement.

We are all made in Gods image. Whether we are gay or straight, cis or trans, white or racialized. God loves each and every one of us.

I believe a more inclusive society is part of God's plan, because he taught us to love our neighbours. He didn't instruct us to judge, but to embrace.

Today, hate is rising towards some of our neighbours, especially those who are transgender. I worry we are losing sight of our shared humanity. But it doesn't have to be this way.

Together in faith, we can build a Canada where freedom includes people of all genders, sexualities, beliefs, cultures and backgrounds.

That's why I'm asking you to speak up for rainbow equality, to visit www.rainbowequality.ca to add your name to our movement.
