2SLGBTQIA+ issues are election issues. Election issues are 2SLGBTQIA+ issues. With a federal election underway, this is a unique opportunity to hear from representatives of Canadian political parties, to understand where they stand on 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, and issues that matter to 2SLGBTQIA+ people and our families - from housing to healthcare to Canada’s role on the global stage and beyond.

That's why we brought together representatives from the NDP, Liberals and Greens on April 23rd for a Proud to Vote Townhall. Our goal? To hear their stances on 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, and share why they think they deserve our votes. We invited the Bloc Quebecois and the Conservative Party but neither responded to our invitations.

We are grateful to our partners - the Community-Based Research Centre, the Conseil québécois LGBT, the Enchante Network, the Dignity Network, Pride at Work Canada, The 519 and others for collaborating on this event with us.

200+ Trans, Queer and Allied Organizations Launch Open Letter to All Party Leaders

On the International Transgender Day of Visibility, over 200 trans, queer and allied organizations across Canada have published the following open letter to the leaders of Canada's major political parties urging them to uphold equality, freedom and human rights for trans and queer people in Canada.

The letter, authored by Queer Momentum, Egale Canada, the Enchanté Network and the Dignity Network of Canada, recognizes the global backlash against 2SLGBTQIA+ equality, and urges party leaders to "reject any effort, however veiled, to roll Canada backwards on equality and human rights for queer and trans people."

The open letter is below in English and French, with a full list of signatories at the bottom of this page. We welcome new organizations to add their name via this link.
