Tackle the Affordability Crisis and Unlock Economic Prosperity for 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities

  • This issue: The rising cost of living is making life harder for everyone. Our paychecks aren’t going as far as they once did. From groceries to rent payments, costs are going up. These crises disproportionately impact 2SLGBTQIA+ people due to economic discrimination and income disparities. 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, workers and small businesses face unique barriers limiting their economic potential and prosperity.

Economic inequality for one community costs all Canadians - through lower wages (lost tax revenue), a greater reliance on public services (i.e., food banks) and lost opportunities (less innovation). By tackling affordability writ-large, tackling employment discrimination and unlocking the economic potential of 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, workers and small business owners, we can build a more prosperous economy - for everyone.

    Our Calls to Action:

    • For all candidates and political parties to commit to tangible measures to reduce the cost of living and strengthen Canada’s welfare system in collaboration with provinces and territories.
    • For all candidates and political parties to commit to programs and initiatives to tackle economic and employment discrimination impacting 2SLGBTQIA+ people, inclusive of supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, funding programs to address workplace discrimination, and encouraging inclusive procurement policies within the Government of Canada.
